On freebmd I have found a marriage for Alfred Ernest Hollows in March Quarter, Hackney 1b, 562. When I look to see others on page there are 3 men and 2 women and the name I am hoping to find is not there. I look on Ancestry and find Alfred Ernest Hollaway, same year and quarter, Hackney 1b, 562a. A bit further down the page is Alfred Ernest Hollway, Hackney 1b, 562a. Can someone tell me what the ‘a’ is that is included at the end of the page number and do you think that these 3 are all the same person. The man I’m looking for is Alfred Holloway but I think his wife is possibly German and keeps changing her surname. Many thanks Marion |

see this thread, further down the page: Stuck Again - Marriage why three preople to a page!!! Sorry - slightly misunderstood question! The a bit, is (I think) where they missed someone off the first time and had to slip another page in. |

Yes on the 1881 Census they are living at 25 Globe Road, London, Middlesex. Alfred Holloway aged 21, Elizabeth Holloway aged 28 and daughter Elizabeth aged 6 months. By the 1891 census Alfred is aged 31 but Elizabeth has now changed her name to Esther and is still 28. In 1901 she is back to Elizabeth and is now a year younger than her husband at 39. I'm positive this is the right family because of the children. I also think that Elizabeth or Esther's surname was originally Puchbauer although on 2 birth certificates it states her surname as being Bowers and on one it is Bower. I've got a memorial card for an Ada Bowers with no date or anything other than a grave number and I have another memorial card for an Ada Buers dated 07/01/1889 aged 2 months. I was hoping that I could at least find the marriage of Alfred and Esther/Elizabeth. Hope this makes sense. Marion |

The Hollway ? Ref you gave in 1879 - I looked on family relatives and that was matched up with Alice Condon. Dea x |
