Do you mean an Institute, or an Institution? I went to school in the Blackburn area in the late 50s-60s, and I dont remember there being any Institutions in Blackburn itself - it was too built up. There was, however, the County Institution which was called Calderstones. This was near Clitheroe and it was a huge place, almost a town in itself - Google it for lots of heart-breaking info. If you meant an Institute, as in a centre of learning etc, then I apologise! Olde Crone |

Elizabeth Brockhall Hospital closed several years ago and I am not sure who will have the records. Look on National Archives site Susan |
