would give me lists of people who were Inn Keepers in the 1800s, I have my gggrandmothers father listed on her wedding certifcate listed as being an Inn Keeper but most of the cert is blurred so I cant make out the address. Thankyou for ay replies. Marie

Only on Ancestry's 1881 census. Your best bet would be to phone the local reg office where the marriage occurred (I'm guessing you got the cert from the GRO?).....explain that you have a GRO copy but you cannot read certain parts. Hopefully they will look up their own copy for you. Merry

Thankyou to you both. The cert I have is actually a scanned copy someone sent me that was researching my family of actors, but I am not in touch with them anymore and it seems to be a bit water damaged, sO I will have to send for the original one I think. Thanks again, Marie

You dont state where the marriage took place, but I found this site useful for my ancestors in the pub trade, but they were mostly based in Norfolk. http://www.norfolkpubs(.)co(.)uk/ Going by each village, it lists all the pubs that have existed and when someone had a licence for the pub Hope it helps regards Sue
