Scotland's people and GRO system.

Thanks Kate. I was unsure about it. I have yet to venture into the English and Welsh BMD as all of my rellies are either Scottish or Irish. Anne

I believe they have to get the law changed first because at present the law only allows for supplying a certified copy of any birth, marriage or death certificate in England and Wales. So the law has to be changed to allow for copies that are required for family history purposes, which would not be 'certified' but could be looked at online, etc. I think they are still consulting on what exactly the new law should be.
