Is it Possible for one partner to be missed off the marrriage indexes when the other is on? I have found what I believe is the marriage of Henry Plested and Elizabeth Plunkett in Dec 1844, Marylebone, but have searched the indexes on Ancestry, but Henry doesn't seem to be there, although Elizabeth is.

Have you looked at the bottom of the page to see if it has been added after original omission? Which leads me to think that there must be some that are missed off.... Peter

i suppose Anything's possible? Strangley, there is a Henry Alfred Playsted and Elizabeth Playsted on the Dec 1844, St Marylebone, Ref: 1 - 184, I wonder if they got put down under their married name and it was mis-spelt also?? Carrie

on free bmd there is an explanatory note about why some names are missing, mainly not yet transcribed

If you go to FreeBMD and then click on INFORMATION and then Coverage then Births, Marriages or Deaths you will see what has/has not been transcribed to date - and you will see some fairly large omissions even as far ahead as 1888. If the spouse has not been transcribed then, of course, you will not find him/her.

I'm fairly sure that there should be either 2 or 4 couples on each page depending on the date the weding took place. Since these are the only 5 people transcribes it stands to reason the the others are yet to be transcribed Marriages Dec 1844 >>>Plunkett Elizabeth Marylebone 1 228 ROSSER Louisa Marylebone 1 228 SHEA Cornelius James Marylebone 1 228 TRY Joseph Marylebone 1 228 VARDON Frederick Charles Marylebone 1 228 Henry Plested is not on the index page at all. However:- Surname First name(s) District Vol Page Marriages Sep 1845 Bentley Eliza Marylebone 1 253 Burke Jane Marylebone 1 253 >>>Plunkett Elizabeth Marylebone 1 253 again no Henry transcribed but the image shows PLESTED Henry, Marylebone 1 253 It looks like your couple could have married a year later than you thought.

I have a choice Here On 1844 Dec there is a Henry Alfred Playsted and also an Elizabeth Plunkett. On 1845 Sept There is a Henry Plested and also an Elizabeth Plunkett. Which one do I order the cert for? 1.) Son of the Henry I'm looking for was Henry Alfred 2 ) His sons were Henry and Alfred. 3 ) Henry had two sons, Henry Alfred and Alfred James (as wellas a George) 4 ) Alfred in 2 ) had a son, Alfred. 5 ) on the other hand the secong Henry is spelled correctly.
