Hi, I have just got in from 4 hours at the local family history centre trying to find the parents of my Great grandmother Rosetta White. Rosetta was born in c.1880 married in 1904 to George THomas Browning in Romford (ilford) I have looked at the 1901 census and the White family are not living at Upton Lane as stated on the marriage certificate. Williams occupation is listed as a manager of a photographic works. I have cheked all the censuses and cannot find a William and Rosetta in the same household. I am truly stuck can any one of you kind people give me a hint. Many thanks Tracey

If you are looking for George THomas Browning and Rosetta White before they got married/ who is this williams bloke and what has he got to do with Rosetta?

Rosetta may not have been living with her parents in 1901, so that might be why you can't find her with them! As for the address on her marriage certificate, that is just where she was living in 1904 when she got married and she could have been living somewhere else 3 years previously. What were the names of the witnesses on the marriage certificate? Could either of them be a relative of Rosetta's? Kate.

Rosettas father named on the marriage certificate may have died many years previously. You cannot assume that he was alive just because his name was on a certificate.

Tracy, I added the west ham census as west ham is next door to (ilford) so a good possibility. good luck
