Thanks Debbie, maybe we should start a thread again where people can add their 'trying to find' adopted people and adoptees can add to aswell and people can see if the information corresponds.

Hi Bev, There is one already put the word adopt in the search engine at the top of the page and you will find some threads by Jessbow, one of them you can enter your Birth name on, in case anyone is looking for you. Debbie Also check out www.myfolks(.)co.uk www.lookupuk(.)com for other cases try www.look4them(.)org.uk also if you have any queries look into Jesses other thread there are always adoptees there who can offer help or advice. 'Trying to find' message will be removed from this board, or so it says when you click to add a message. Sheila It's actually www.myfolks.net No need for brackets if the sites end in .gov .net or .org Hope this helps Sam

Hi Sammy, Sorry thought it was (.)com has it changed? I know what you mean about TTF messages, but Jesses thread is where adoptees can give their own details in case someone logs on who is looking for them, so technically not a TTF :O) Sheila

Hi all, thanks for your comments. I wasn't sure if Jess had still activated the thread so sent Jess a PM and mentioned starting another one. What do you think the likely hood would be that my adopted sister would know about this website? I cross my fingers every day!

Hi bev, I cannot say if she knows about it it would depend on if she is also searching., but the sight has had a lot of publicity lately, one posative thing now though is now more than ever, it is easier to trace birth familes via the internet. Try those sites above, enter your details and BM details in your tree (providing you have her consent of course) then if she does a name search she has a chance of finding you on here. Contact the society that has arranged the adoption and see their current stance with the changes in the law in December 2005 at the very least see if you can leave a letter with her adoption file, and then keep your fingers crossed and hope. Good Luck! Sheila

Thanks very much Sheila, fortunately, I was able to trace her records but she has never sought access to them which makes me wonder if she even would know if she was adopted. I have left a letter on the adoption records and the details on this website and just waiting to receive correspondence from the local adoption agency as they can now act as an intermediary. Take care and best wishes, Bev
