Hi Help, i have found two birth records for Elizabeth Jarvis 1863, how do i go about finding her parents names and work out which one belongs to my family tree? I have her on census in 1881 living with her Uncle, other than that nothing. Anyone go any suggestions. Many thanks for any help and suggestions Claire |

Have you got her marriage cert? From that you'll get her father and hopefully find her in 1871 census with parents. Othre than that does she give any clue to a middle name or initial in censues? If you cant work it pout that way then when ordering birth cert ask for a ref check (but of course if yu havn't any ref to check you cant do that!?) Her marriage cert looks like the answer? Suzanne After thought? How do you know that the one you found living with her uncle is yours? If you knoqw this for sure then try and trace her uncle back to when he was living with his siblings and then go forwards until you find her with one of his brothers? |

Thanks for that Suzanne Her Aunt and Uncle belong to my family..proven fact, however his surname was Davies not Jarvis, we are trying to find out where the Jarvis comes from, her aunts sister might of married a Jarvis or it could of been her Uncles sister.........though in the 1851 census the uncles sister was 40 years old and it doesn't list her as having any children, and i think in 1863 she might of been a bit to old to have kids. Where as the Aunts sister would still of been too young she was born in 1855...............hence the mystery. Well i will keep looking, thanks and all Claire I have not yet found marriage certs for either siblings of the aunt and uncle........will probably stumble over it at some stage though. |

Hi Claire Very long shot, but I have a Jarvis marrying a Davies round about the mid 1800s. Mine are in Shropshire. Any use? Tina |

Whereabouts were both these Elizabeth Jarvises born? Try finding both of them in 1871, which is the first available census on which they would appear. If yours is definitely the one with the uncle in 1881, then try finding the other possible in 1881 and work backwards. nell |

Jarvis looks very similar to Davies. Are you sure it hasn`t been misread? Some Enumerators writing was very bad!!!!! |

Many thanks to all who have helped, apologies to Bernice, i had probably forgotten i had asked on your thread.........seem to be a bit befuddled at the moment. Elizabeth was born in High Hatton........everyone seems to have found a birth thing that fits i found two for Wem, Shropshire. Thanks for the 1871 look ups to all. It does seem to be the right one. I must get more control of what i posted when..........lol. Signing out...4.30 am Claire |
