Now, or pre-1900? Hartlepool was classed as Durham I think..

Now, it has no county. It's just a 'borough'. Most of the places up here are like that now.

I was born in Hartlepool. It was always in Co. Durham, then became Cleveland, now just the Borough of Hartlepool,'in the Tees Valley' (which is a bit of a controvertial subject up here). Kath. x
