Hi Robyne Under picture/objects at the top of the screen, do you have a little tree icon? Heather

I am having a lot of trouble with mine too its the deluxe 2005 version but I wont say what I call it and it certainly isnt Deluxe!!!!!! On reading the book that comes with it, they say you can install over another version without uninstalling the current one you have ,and you dont lose anything ,let me know how you get on will you as I am thinking of throwing mine out of the Window.

I just loaded my 2006 over the top of my old 2005 and it transferred ok. To do the trees just click on the little box below the Picture Object tab the one next to the little magnifiying glass - it gives you a choice of 9 types of trees there.

I also have the 2006 deluxe version and have loaded it without trouble on my laptop and main computer, but I can only load the Charting companion on the laptop which does not connect to a printer and not to the main computer, which I can print from! This is driving me mad! Also does anyone know how to get rid of the long list of American search sites as I dont requrie them. Apart from that I think its great, well so far anyway.

Apologies for not getting in contact sooner. The only tree i have available is the Standard Pedigree chart, without going through the charting companion which i dont really like. Do i need to completely unistall and try again? The only worry i have is whether it will delete my tree file

Robyne, two icons to the right of the pedigree chart I have another icon with a tree this has a choice of a standard pedigree chart and 8 others. I hope someone can advise about uninstalling the programme, I think you would need to export a gedcom to your desktop first. Heather

You don't need to uninstall and re-install, just put the disk in again and re-install, it will overwrite the program files only, your data and tree will be safe and not be affected at all. When you open FTM for the first time after re-install you may have to navigate to where the data file is stored before your tree will open. To be ultra safe, export your family file in FTW format (the default file export format) and save it on your Desktop, when you re-install and may have to navigate to re-open your family file you will know that it's saved on your desktop. Maureen - the long list of american search sites - do you mean on the ancestry census search? If that is what you mean - at the bottom of the search details box you will see a little box with 'records originating outside UK' next to it. Yours must have a tick in it - just remove the tick.
