I would be grateful if someone could look for a birth record for Emily Jane Taylor born 1869 Plymouth Devon (possibly St Andrews or Stoke Parish). I have found her on the 1891, 81 and 71 Census records but not 1901 (sometimes Emily Jane and sometimes just Emily) all with the same parents and siblings. I have looked at births for 1868, 69 and 70 but cannot seem to see her birth recorded, maybe a fresh pair of eyes could spot her. Any help would be appreciated. Vanessa |

Valerie, Thanks for the response. I doubt it as Taunton is some way from Plymouth. All the Census records I found all say various areas in Plymouth or South Hams area. But you never know so will have a look at the one you suggested. Thanks again Vanessa |

Christine, Thank so much for checking. Not sure where to look next, I suppose she could have be registered outside of Devon and when the Census was taken her parents just said Plymouth as thats where they came from and lived at the time. Never mind it's keeping me occupied while the footie is on. Thanks again. Vanessa |

Christine, Thank you. I was also wondering if they didn't register her at all if that's the case not sure where I would look, Parish records perhaps? Vanessa |

I don't suppose it could be one of those cases where the child was born before the parents' marriage and so was registered under the mother's maiden name, could it? Kate. |

Kate, I didn't think of that, I will see if I can find their marriage details. I don't know her mothers maiden name though! Thank you. Vanessa |

Kate, Sorry just thought she had two elder siblings one of which I can find registered but not the other. Not sure the point I'm trying to make but it was just a thought. Vanessa |

Hi Christine, I doubt it, although Exeter isn't far from Plymouth. I suppose she could have given birth there. I will make a trip in to the records office and see what I can come up with. Thanks again for your help its much appreciated. Vanessa |
