Matthew After 1910 its a question of going through the relevant GRO indexes quarter by quarter year by year. You can do this ONLINE Free -www.ancestry*co.uk you need to register and then choose the England & Wales civil reg beta list. Payperview -www.1837online*com FREE -at a library/archive that has the indexes on microfiche -in big index books at the Family Records Centre in London. nell |

http://www.ancestry(.)co(.)uk/search/db.aspx?dbid=8965 remove brackets marriage index on Ancestry - free to search - but takes time as you have to go through each quarter individually |

Thanks for this info. I just used it and found someone for my tree. The numbers that are shown on the right-hand side, is there anywhere we can use these to look for more info? thanks Audrey |

Audrey, The numbers on the right hand side are the volume and page numbers, this is what you use when ordering the certs from the GRO |

The information shown is the GRO reference :- There will be a place name - which is the district of Registration - a volume reference a page number You need these three pieces of information, plus the year and quarter of the registration, when you order certificates |
