You can download Legacy for free from www.legacyfamilytree(.)com, you can use PAF from www.familysearch.org or you can usually get Family Treet Maker starter edition free on CD's that come with Family History Magazines. With all these I think you can link relatives who marry each other without haviing to list`them twice andthen if you import your tree to this site, it all appears correct. You definately should store your tree on some other software and not just on this site. Sam x

back in november i asked if there was a way on this site of linking up rellies who were already related prior to marriage (my gran's aunt was also my grandad's gran) - i got 3 replies who said they thought they answer was no. assuming no one has actually managed it any idea on the best way to list them - at the moment i've listed my grandad twice and just put that he's the same person as the other alfred gapper! i'm also getting in complete knots as his side of the family seemed to have a thing about changing their names completely!! not to mention their dates of birth - particularly when they joined the merchant navy - they changed their surname from gapper to capper - and no it wasn't a mistake on the part of the person writing the actual registration certificates! they made themselves older presumably so that they could join and one of his brothers changed his first name to the same as my grandads! Can anyone suggest any idiot proof relatively cheap software for me - i'm new to this and so far i'm using this site for my tree and would really like to put it on disc thanks
