Hi any of you seasoned professionals up for a challange? I can not find the James McGowan family in the 1891 census I have been looking without success for weeks and using just about every permetation of spelling I can think of. I have the family in the 1901 census at 14 Penistone terrace Liverpool. In 1901 james was a boiler maker in 1891 there would have been: James McGowan b abt 1866 possibly Dublin Ireland Henrietta McGowan b 24 Sept 1863 Dublin Ireland aka Hetty aka Etty aka Esther Peter McGowan born 1887 27 Evelyn Street (Kirkdale) Liverpool Thomas McGowan who was born 1890 at 5 Harcourt Street. Kirkdale Liverpool can anyone find them? |

Sorry Dinana No sign...suggest you ask someone with the Lancs 1891 to look up the address for Thomas's birth to see if they are still there. Suzanne |

Sorry havent replied Internet has been off for a couple of days, thanks to those who tried. I had already discounted the James McGown born 1842 I am afraid. If anyone does have a street Index that would certainly be brilliamt, because I do have the birth address of Thomas McGowan born 1890, so they may still have been there in 1891 That was 5 Harcourt Street. Have you tried finding the neighbours on either side in 1901 and then track them in 1891, then look next door?? May have to do it for two or three houses either side until you find one that hasn't moved. Peter |
