Hi All Not been on Genes Reunited for about 2 years. Came back this week and everything is completely different and I can't find my way around very well. Anyway, this hot match system - is there a way to search for a specific surname that has been matched with your tree? It's all very well telling me Barbara, Tom and Sarah have hot matches, but I don't want to go through all of them (34 pages!!) to find a specific surname. Is there an easier way?? PS Please could you also tell me how I find the links to the useful places to search that used to be on here like the 1881 census and others - are they still on here?? Thanks for any help. Andrea |

Andrea As far as I know you cannot search on hot matches, just on the normal search facility. To find the links and tips, go to your homepage and scroll down and you will see them on the left. Lynne |

Hi There If you go to 'My tree Matches' Change the 'names added in the last....' to 'all names' then you can do the old searches you used to do on name, place of birth etc. Hope I've explained that OK. Jo |

Hi Again I think you need to log onto Ancestry(.)co(.)uk and I think 1881 is still free to search. Jo |

If you ask to get the hot matches alert emailed to you, you will also get the new names alert email. This lists all the new names entered in the last fortnight (roughly!) It is easier to negociate than my tree matches as it omits all the no match names and gives you just a single list. It's much more user friendly than hot matches and the information is up to date. You can then file the emails together for reference. |

Hot matches can be very depressing. I think you just have to open them. You can quickly discard ones born in a different country. If someone has been sent several times Genes will add the matches together after you have opened them. It does not always help - my top matcher 31 so far refuses to answer. I have only got surnames A - H so far. If someone has several matches it is probably worth a look. |
