Where do I start looking in Scotland

I have no experience whatsoever of Scottish records. Robert TROTTER, b 1833 Glasgow son of Thomas Trotter and I think Mary (Miller) He ended up marrying in New Zealand - suspect he came out during the gold rush (abt 1863) Where do I go next?? Peter

There's only one Robert Trotter born c1833 in 1841 census index for Glasgow. Parents James and Elizabeth. Liz

Rebs x ;-P *heads back to the naughty corner* James, International Genealogical Indexes can be found at www.familysearch.org It's a site run by the Morman church, often very useful, but be careful to check entries as there have been some bizarre errors found
