Is it possible to have two tree programmes in use please, by that I mean, A while ago I downloaded Genopro, then shortly after the Legacy free tree maker. I have been using Legacy but now wish to find out what genopro is like. Is it possible or advisable to have them both operational please? Lin xx |

Are you saying that if I have a free tree download on my desktop Lorraine, that it would affect or cause disruption to my tree on Genes? only I have been using Legacy tree builder for several weeks now and it doesn't appear to have interferred with my tree on here..........Or have I just misunderstood your question (probably most likely being so early in the morning) Lin xx |

I think Lorraine thought you wanted to have two different trees on GR. Any tree programme you have on your computer will not interfere with your tree on GR at all. There should be no problem in having as many tree programs as you want, except that if you add some people to your tree in one program, and add other people to your tree in the other program, they will soon get out of synch with each other! So you might be best to decide on one program to be your main one for updating the tree, then export a file from it to use in the other program. Kate. |

Thankyou all for your help and thankyou Alan & Kate for clarifying what I was hoping to hear. I was hoping this would be the case. I will be using both trees for the same info, until such time I may decide to stick with one. Lin xx |

Lorraine, Don't worry hun, everybody learns every day, I could not do it, far too inexperienced. I applaud you for having a go, I would be too scared of making an idiot out of myself, believe it or not Lorraine, whatever response I get, or see on other threads, it gives me (as a newbie) a lot of cause for thought, which in itself is a great help, because you have to try and work through things for yourself and often people like myself have gone far too long without learning anything which sharpens the mind, been far too busy looking after family etc, and getting lost in the process. To me, it's like having the opportunity to go to college (something I can't do physically, being disabled). It's great learning something new. Lin xx |

thanks lin, i myself am un well, and have learnt loads of people on here. Like many i am self taught computer, and family tree research, i used to go to the library as we had a on line records unit there i would pay to use the micro fiche sit on the chair and watch and listen to people,to scared to ask lol, it was great when 2 other people got into a conversation about genalogy,or some one new came in and asked how to use the BMD micro fiche, i would then follow them and learn, apart from i always managed to put the cards in every way but the write way then sit blushing. |

Yes it can be very daunting Lorraine, I haven't even tackled anything like that yet, but I'm happy enjoying what I'm able to do. Last week I had a contact completely out of the blue and so unexpected, from another line of my dad's. It was the g g grandaughter of my great grandfather. Her g grandfather was the brother to my grandmother, so now we can share some of the load together which is lovely. Lin xx |
