Is there any other websites you DON'T have to pay for on the internet to see parish records apart from familysearch.org? Dan. |

You don't see the parish records online anywhere - familysearch just shows extracted info. In my experience, seeing the actual parish register can provide info you won't get any other way. BUT I don't know of any other free parish sites - you could try googling the name of the parish and 'parish registers' and see if there are any transcriptions. nell |

they are very hit & miss and by no means complete either tell us the areas you're interested in, or google for them! I'm sure there are lists of parishes that have been transcribed on here too, if you search. I use familyhistoryonline which isn't free but is sometimes the only way you have of accessing some without buying CDs. patchy coverage though, check it has your area before buying credits. Whichever, its cheaper than spending the petrol or train fare to get to the records offices. |

Try going to UKBMD site, click on 'your' County, then when the County Home Page comes up, scroll down and look for links on the right hand side. You may be lucky. Another thing to try is Google (your County) OPC Projects - I have found quite a few using this method. Olde Crone |

Still in preparation but a notice on the site says 'coming soon' is FreeREG - bet that site will be overloaded from Day 1. There are not many PRs online as far as I have seen and the one for the Medway is a bit heavy and difficult to handle, but if you can't get to the parish or the archive then you don't have much choice at the moment. |

FreeReg has proudly stated 'coming soon' since 2001. The National Archivist website has also ha 'coming soon' for its parish records for at least two years. Your best bet is to Google the parish, because anything online is there because of one or several local volunteers on their own unofficial websites. |

ukbdm (originally a cert-exchange site) has slots for people to record parish records they've picked up as well as certs. You might get lucky. Christine |

Just remembered - there's a load of Lincolnshire marriages transcribed into Excel-as-database. I think it's 1837-1850. Lincs FHS or something like that, I think. Christine |
