How do i find birth certs??

Hello lovely people, i have got as far back as 1811c and being very new to this i do not know where to go next?? The only thing i have is my GGGgrandads name and approx year of birth and that it was in Ireland, i cannot see any light at the end of this tunnel. Any tips or know hows very much appreciated from all the experts out there!! Claire x |

Before 1854ish (I think) in Ireland, there are no birth certs, only baptism records, which would be in the relevant parish registers. Have you looked on the IGI? nell |
