thanks for looking ... Liz, That's Harriets brother and his family, I have them thanks. Sue, I did look at that entry on 1881, but the image says she not married?.. so didn't think it was same one, as where were her children?... this has been a puzzle for the last 4 months for me...they just seemed to have vanished! Regards, Sue

Seymour, Richard Hill 1896 March Deaths Truro Cornwall Looked at all the BMDs for Richard Hill Seymour and this death doesn't fit with a local birth or marriage. If Richard Snr was always away from home then it would seem likely he was on board a ship. Maybe he died on a ship and was brought to nearest port? The Richard I found on the ship Trafalgar would be the son , BMD 1861 Petersfield.

What happened to Richard SEYMOUR senior? Is the fact that Harriet's children were christened back in Buriton( on IGI) rather than in Jane's given birthplace of Portsmouth, and son Richard is given the middle name HILL a clue to another man in the story? Parish records of Buriton might be helpful as the vicar may have included a comment.

Hi Gwyneth, Jane Seymour was Harriets daughter, born in Protsmouth. Harriet and Richard Hill Seymour snr. must have been there at time of her birth. So it does look like Richard snr was a seaman. Oh its becoming clearer now! Richard Hill Seymour jnr was christened in Buriton, Harriet's home village. Sue
