I REALLY hate to say this as they really annoy me too BUT a few months ago, for some reason mine disappeared and instead I had an empty glaring white space and, believe it or not, this annoyed me more than the adverts - I honestly could not take my eyes away from it. - Sounds wierd but it is honestly true. - I can ignore the advert but I couldn't ignore the white space. Am I just strange??? Dea x

Fantastic, Mary, thank you very much. I have used Firefox for some time now (much better than IE) but did not know about the adblock extension. Have now got rid of that incredibly irritating advert. Peace at last! Tina

Oh thanks for that Mary, I'll get DIL to look into it for me. Lin XX

Firefox is free, Lin, if you want to change to a different browser. It's safer than IE (you're less likely to pick up viruses and spyware). http://www(.)mozilla(.)com(/)firefox/ (Remove the brackets.) I use either Opera or Firefox, and I never see any ads.

No joy for me then Mary, I have IE, perhaps my DIL can do something about it later. Lin XX

It depends which browser you're using. The easiest way is to download Firefox and its adblocker extension. If you're using Opera, uncheck Multimedia - Enable Plug-ins in the Preferences menu, which will eliminate Flash adds (but you'll need to check it again whenever you want to see videos and Flash pages). No idea about IE, because I don't normally use it. When I did use it once to open GR, I got a spyware warning (probably from one of the banner ads).

Hi Caroline, Yes I'm annoyed by them too, very off-putting, don't know what to do about them though. Lin XX

I have a flashing advert in my side menu of GR advertising a Bingo website. I keep scrolling away from it but depending on what am doing it keeps popping back into view. It is very off-putting. I have contacted GR about it - who have done nothing so far. Is anybody else troubled by it or knows how to get rid of it?
