WDYTYA for Expats

Hi everyone Was on the board the other night when nearly everyone cleared off to watch WDYTYA ! Can't get it where I live in Cyprus, so I emailed BBC Prime to see if they were going to screen it. Got an immediate response that they had no plans to show it at this time. Can I suggest that any expats in the same position also send BBC Prime an email. Perhaps they'll relent if they are inundated with indications of interest. Otherwise it means spending megabucks to get a 3m sat dish to receive Sky! Just a thought. Cheers, Pam

We don't get it here in Amercia either! All we seem to get is Benny Hill and Coupling! I'm going to email them too. I would love to be able to watch it on BBC America! Fiona

Strange isn't it? I bet rubbishy programmes like Big Brother can be seen ANYWHERE in the world; but get a programme aimed at the more intelligent viewer and its as rare as snow in summer! I'm sorry WDYTYA has ended. I hardly watch telly nowadays. This programme actually puts bums on seats, but the powers that be still only cater for dumbed down TV or humiliation programmes! Cheers, Horatia PS Even on GR they put up surveys that seem to be aimed at dolts rather than serious researchers.

If you think British TV is poor at the moment - you ought to try Cyprus telly! Dire is too polite a word for it (of course it doesn't help that I don't understand much Greek yet!) Pam

Looks like Amazon has it on DVD if anyone really wants to get a hold of it.......might be cheaper than a satelite dish! http://www.amazon(.)co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000BY6OFU/qid%3D1140227687/203-4022983-8210365 Barbara

I guess I'm lucky, brought a english tv and video player over with me when I moved here as my kids had so many videos..........the American video players don't play english tapes. So glad I did now!! Got my mum to tape the series for me, got the one tape with 3 on it already and she's sending another tape with the rest on. Now I just need to get the baby to sleep long enough so I can watch it in peace...........hopefully when I'm not too tired. Fiona.

We did get the first series about 2 months ago here in Australia so hopefully should get the latest one in about a year, but at least we do get it, however much later on as the last series was great.

The first series is now available on DVD but the DVD running time is only 70 or 90 minutes for a six programme series with each programme lasting 60(?) minutes. MB

I have this DVD and it doesn't show the whole programmes. It just talks about Family History and uses clips from the first programmes as illustrations. For example there is a section on talking to your older relatives, (especially your parents) about the family history. The DVD then shows our celebrities talking to their parents about their family history. It covers various topics and uses clips from the first series. Cheers, Horatia
