Well i have the bindings, but dont really know whether you mean areas for baptisms or what? If thats what you want, you could try dockland ancestors site if you want to buy cds for waterside parishes. They also sell books and a have a pay to view baptism record?? The thames watermen and lightermen is a rootsweb message group (as given above). |

If you join the mailing list via roots, you will find a lady on there currently listing watermen and lighterman as she finds them in the 1881 census, she does have various info so it is worth leaving a message there Elaine |

You could try visiting the Watermans Hall in city of London. My father-in-law visited in order to find out info about his ancestors. He managed to find some information from them and had a guided tour of the building. I think he said that all the Watermen and Lightermen records had been transferred to City of London library and that you can visit and search documents. Hope you find what you're looking for! |

You can sometimes find their quarterage payment records too. Check out dockland ancestors though. |

Try the website Parishregister()com - replace brackets with . This gives a lot of information about Thames parishes, including indexes of some Thames side parish registers and also has contact details for searching the lightermen apprenticeship bindings. You can ask for a name search which will give you all the apprentices of that surname together with the date their apprenticeships started and ended and the name of the person they were apprenticed to. As the job of lighterman was often handed down from father to son, thsi may help you to go back several generations. Hope this helps. Sue |
