There is a biblical family tree on Family Tree Version 4

Good answer, Phoenix. I suppose like the earliest entries in certain parish registers from the 16th and 17th centuries, the womans name was never really that important. Why should the bible have ever been any different? There would be a hell of a lot 'unknown unknown''s among this lot though!

This is where I get confused, who was Seth's wife? If everyone came from Adam, wouldn't it be incest....

Mickey They had long gaps between their kids didn't they! Mine barely waited til one popped out before they set about making more. Have you tried making a Biblical family tree, could be fun but would probably be very complicated.

Hi Mickey Something tells me that the female line might be a bit difficult to trace. Did ANY of the daughters have names?

With my brain beginning to get fried by all this nonsence, I had a quick look at chapter 11, which continues the biblical line as follows: 11:10 This is the history of the generations of Shem. Shem was one hundred years old, and became the father of Arpachshad two years after the flood. 11:11 Shem lived after he became the father of Arpachshad five hundred years, and became the father of sons and daughters. 11:12 Arpachshad lived thirty-five years, and became the father of Shelah. 11:13 Arpachshad lived after he became the father of Shelah four hundred three years, and became the father of sons and daughters. 11:14 Shelah lived thirty years, and became the father of Eber: 11:15 and Shelah lived after he became the father of Eber four hundred three years, and became the father of sons and daughters. 11:16 Eber lived thirty-four years, and became the father of Peleg. 11:17 Eber lived after he became the father of Peleg four hundred thirty years, and became the father of sons and daughters. 11:18 Peleg lived thirty years, and became the father of Reu. 11:19 Peleg lived after he became the father of Reu two hundred nine years, and became the father of sons and daughters. 11:20 Reu lived thirty-two years, and became the father of Serug. 11:21 Reu lived after he became the father of Serug two hundred seven years, and became the father of sons and daughters. 11:22 Serug lived thirty years, and became the father of Nahor. 11:23 Serug lived after he became the father of Nahor two hundred years, and became the father of sons and daughters. 11:24 Nahor lived twenty-nine years, and became the father of Terah. 11:25 Nahor lived after he became the father of Terah one hundred nineteen years, and became the father of sons and daughters. 11:26 Terah lived seventy years, and became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran. 11:27 Now this is the history of the generations of Terah. Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Haran became the father of Lot. 11:28 Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldees. 11:29 Abram and Nahor took wives. The name of Abram's wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran who was also the father of Iscah. 11:30 Sarai was barren. She had no child. 11:31 Terah took Abram his son, Lot the son of Haran, his son's son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife. They went forth from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan. They came to Haran, and lived there. 11:32 The days of Terah were two hundred five years. Terah died in Haran. By this point though, I lost interest in the whole idea completely. If anyone else out there wants to prove their family line goes all the way back to the time of the Old Testament, then be my guest. I’ve got better things to do, like taking up alligator wrestling :-)

People living seven or eight hundred years? It’s hardly conclusive proof though, is it? Still, chapter ten of Genesis continues with Noah’s children and descendants as follows: 10:1 Now this is the history of the generations of the sons of Noah and of Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Sons were born to them after the flood. 10:2 The sons of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. 10:3 The sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah. 10:4 The sons of Javan: Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim. 10:5 Of these were the isles of the nations divided in their lands, everyone after his language, after their families, in their nations. 10:6 The sons of Ham: Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan. 10:7 The sons of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan. 10:8 Cush became the father of Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. 10:9 He was a mighty hunter before Yahweh. Therefore it is said, 'Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before Yahweh.' 10:10 The beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. 10:11 Out of that land he went forth into Assyria, and built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir, Calah, 10:12 and Resen between Nineveh and Calah (the same is the great city). 10:13 Mizraim became the father of Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphtuhim, 10:14 Pathrusim, Casluhim (which the Philistines descended from), and Caphtorim. 10:15 Canaan became the father of Sidon (his firstborn), Heth, 10:16 the Jebusite, the Amorite, the Girgashite, 10:17 the Hivite, the Arkite, the Sinite, 10:18 the Arvadite, the Zemarite, and the Hamathite. Afterward the families of the Canaanites were spread abroad. 10:19 The border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as you go toward Gerar, to Gaza; as you go toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, to Lasha. 10:20 These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their languages, in their lands, in their nations. 10:21 To Shem, the father of all the children of Eber, the elder brother of Japheth, to him also were children born. 10:22 The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram. 10:23 The sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash. 10:24 Arpachshad became the father of Shelah. Shelah became the father of Eber. 10:25 To Eber were born two sons. The name of the one was Peleg, for in his days was the earth divided. His brother's name was Joktan. 10:26 Joktan became the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, 10:27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, 10:28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba, 10:29 Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these were the sons of Joktan. 10:30 Their dwelling was from Mesha, as you go toward Sephar, the mountain of the east. 10:31 These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their languages, in their lands, after their nations. 10:32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations. Of these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood. More on the way. Bet you can't wait...

Just to prove how completely insane my thought process is, I’ve spent the evening wondering just a moment that I could realistically get my tree back as far as the bible, I was just sat reading it this evening to see how reliable and admissible it would be as evidence. The all-important Chapter Five of Genesis, relates the geneaology of Adam and Eve thus, as far as Noah and the Great Flood:- 5:1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, he made him in God's likeness. 5:2 He created them male and female, and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created. 5:3 Adam lived one hundred thirty years, and became the father of a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth. 5:4 The days of Adam after he became the father of Seth were eight hundred years, and he became the father of sons and daughters. 5:5 All the days that Adam lived were nine hundred thirty years, then he died. 5:6 Seth lived one hundred five years, and became the father of Enosh. 5:7 Seth lived after he became the father of Enosh eight hundred seven years, and became the father of sons and daughters. 5:8 All the days of Seth were nine hundred twelve years, then he died. 5:9 Enosh lived ninety years, and became the father of Kenan. 5:10 Enosh lived after he became the father of Kenan, eight hundred fifteen years, and became the father of sons and daughters. 5:11 All the days of Enosh were nine hundred five years, then he died. 5:12 Kenan lived seventy years, and became the father of Mahalalel. 5:13 Kenan lived after he became the father of Mahalalel eight hundred forty years, and became the father of sons and daughters 5:14 and all the days of Kenan were nine hundred ten years, then he died. 5:15 Mahalalel lived sixty-five years, and became the father of Jared. 5:16 Mahalalel lived after he became the father of Jared eight hundred thirty years, and became the father of sons and daughters. 5:17 All the days of Mahalalel were eight hundred ninety-five years, then he died. 5:18 Jared lived one hundred sixty-two years, and became the father of Enoch. 5:19 Jared lived after he became the father of Enoch eight hundred years, and became the father of sons and daughters. 5:20 All the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty-two years, then he died. 5:21 Enoch lived sixty-five years, and became the father of Methuselah. 5:22 Enoch walked with God after he became the father of Methuselah three hundred years, and became the father of sons and daughters. 5:23 all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty-five years. 5:24 Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him. 5:25 Methuselah lived one hundred eighty-seven years, and became the father of Lamech. 5:26 Methuselah lived after he became the father of Lamech seven hundred eighty-two years, and became the father of sons and daughters. 5:27 All the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty-nine years, then he died. 5:28 Lamech lived one hundred eighty-two years, and became the father of a son, 5:29 and he named him Noah, saying, 'This same will comfort us in our work and in the toil of our hands, because of the ground which Yahweh has cursed.' 5:30 Lamech lived after he became the father of Noah five hundred ninety-five years, and became the father of sons and daughters. 5:31 All the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy-seven years, then he died. 5:32 Noah was five hundred years old, and Noah became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth. More in a moment...
