HUGH WALLIS BATCH NUMBERS Hugh Wallis has compiled a list of numbers - mainly C numbers for Christenings and M numbers for marriages, for England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland. If you google 'Hugh Wallis' you should find the site. You can choose the right country, then county, and then the individual town or parish. If there is a batch number, beside it will be the dates covered. You can click on the batch number and you will then be able to choose to either see ALL the entries in a batch OR put in the surname you want. It will then extract all the entries with that surname and its variants. This is a quick way of a) seeing if the parish and time you want is on the IGI b) doing a blanket search of everyone with that surname in a parish record c) by using the search box on www.familysearch.org and putting the relevant batch number in, you can find all the children baptised to one set of parents. nell

The LDS in London have the records permanently available. You may have to order them for other centres. There are 3 in Yorkshire:-Hull, Sheffield & York.
