Update from previous thread. Hooray! Ive now found marriage between G/Father and G/Mother so to find her parents is it best to order copy of marraige certificate NOT her death certificate. 1st Qrt 1934 8d 56 Its late and I'm confusing myself!!! Thank you. Vanessa |

Apart from the supposed date of birth, the death cert would also tell you where the informant believed the person was born............. Merry |

Caz, Thank you for the response. My g/mother wasn't born until 1909. She could have married anytime from when she was 18 (ish) until my father was born in 1939 (in Manchester), and presumably in the Lancs area somewhere. I'm led to believe she was the eldest but I've searched her siblings and there are several possible matches for each of them. Not sure where to go next. Van |

Did/does your father have siblings?? Were any of them older than him?? If they were, have you found their birth registrations? If he didn't have older siblings, I would concentrate re-searching for the marriage of his parents around his birth date and up to five years before and also AFTER he was born too!! Yes, I would get the death cert.......You never know what snippet of info might be on it!! I notice as well as the year of birth being different for Elsie, the date in Jan also differs. Merry |

Merry My father has one sister but she is younger born 1943. I will do as you have suggested and firstly trawl through the marriage index and if that doesn't help me I will order a copy of the death certificate. The details were given to me by my father and he could have got them mixed up but I will confirm them with my aunt. Thank you for your help. Van |
