I've been using the FreeBMD but what date does the info go up to on there? And after that date what site should I use? Beth |

Click on the Coverage LInk on the FreeBMD site. It shows you the years that they have completed. Grant |

Hiya Beth I believe FreeBMD goes up to about 1910. However it isn't fully transcribed. After that I believe you may have to go to the fee paying sites. Regards Dawn |

The BMDs on ancetry are the same as free BMD there are very few after about 1910. However i think the system was changed in about 1994 and they have everything (i think) since then until quite recent |

System was changed 1984. Records since then are on ancestry and can be searched. Death info also shows date of birth - useful cross-check. Births and Marriages also shown in separate files. Jim |

Whilst Ancestry do have the freeBMD indexes, they also have the entire GRO BMD listing at present, as Ann has explained above. Liz |

Paula Ancestry has the images of the GRO index up to 1983 available for free at the moment - alongside their copy of the FreeBMD database. As Ann said, it's sort-of iundexed but it's in beta/test mode at the moment, that's why it's free. Christine |
