Does anyone have the 1861 census for Midlothian, Scotland. I am looking for a Jean Baird, aged about 60 yrs old. Also 2 David Bairds. 1 would be about 38yrs old & the son David would be about 8yrs old. The 8 yr. old was born in England. I know the 2 Davids back in Edinburgh on 1881 census. Thanks Hilary.

you can view 1861 scottish census on scotlandspeople, you have to by minimum of £6 credit then you can search, it is name indexed and very good. unfortunatly i have just run out of credit socant look up for you. If you have not used it before try finding the deaths of your ancestors as the death entry you can view on the website gives name, occupation, age spouses name, date, time and place of death, cause of death, how long they were ill for, who their doctor was ..and best of all, how ever old they are...their parents names including their mothers maiden name...oh if only the english recordsa were that good, good luck with your hunting
