Hi All, Ned new eyes and ideas searching for Catherine Seager. What I know so far. IGI christened 7 Dec 1800 Kingswinford, Stafford IGI married William Seager 15 Oct 1825, Kingswinford, Stafford. Warwickshire Catherine, 34 William, 39 Ellen, 5 William is a Cabinet Maker. All born outside County 1851 Cannot find Catherine or William, but may have found daughter Ellen, Niece of John Seager, I cannot find a link between John and William Seager. Ivan You're making a wonderful Freudian slip when you're typing... Catherine is obviously so elusive that you can see through her... you're turning her from a ''widow'' to a ''window''! Christine PS - I'm well aware we're into the realms of pots & kettles here, except my typos are usually transposed letters: ''teh'' & ''eth'' for ''the'' and so on.

Not that long ago I sent a message to ancestry to point out that the status 'WINDOWER' was coming up for all widows or widowers on the 1881 census 'record details'. And it still is! So you're not the only one. (Honestly, how long would it take them to change it - it must just be one entry in a look-up table, surely?) Kate.

I've had a bit of a look and certainly haven't achieved ''genius'' status yet. They are, indeed, elusive, aren't they! Christine

Hi Christine, You should read more carefully, I never said she was a window . Isaid 'I dont know if she is a window or not' : ) The daft thing is I spent ages typing it up in wordpad and reading through it before I posted and then when I was ready to do it I couldn't get on here. Anyway she is so invisible she might as well be see through. Mary

Couldn't see any likely deaths for William 1846±5, but 1856±5 showed up these three possibles (of course this is the FreeBMD database in Ancestry - I didn't trawl the free/beta indexed GRO images): Seager, William 1857 September Deaths Coventry Warwickshire West Midlands Seager, William 1858 December Deaths Kidderminster Hereford and Worcester Shropshire Staffordshire Worcestershire Seager, William 1858 December Deaths Wolverhampton Shropshire Staffordshire West Midlands Christine

Don't want to doubt your info but isn't this more likely to be Catherines birth and baptism? Birth: 09 SEP 1806 Christening: 06 DEC 1811 Kingswinford, Stafford, England Parents: Father: FRANCIS HOBSON Mother: SARAH C053732 IGI

Incidentally... I notice that John is described as being from ''Chasley'' in Worcs. Can't find anything on Multimap for that, but there is a place with Chaddesley in the name - and I'd bet that the dd in the middle doesn't get pronounced! There are some IGI records for Chaddesley Corbett - with SEAGERs, but I can't see yours there. Stone is not that far away either. Christine

Helen That fits better with the census ages and the death-record age. Christine

Hi Helen, I did wonder about the age difference, but as you all know it's best to take ages on census with a pinch of salt. The Catherine I have has William & Susannah as her parents. ( I have recently been in contact with a second cousin through Hot Matches and she has got the same info as me) But you are right it is a better fit with regard to the info I have. But if yours is the right Catherine, then I need to do a bit more looking into things. Many Thanks Mary
