You have installed the new driver? I assume that your PC is XP With SP2 .There were some problems but thought they would be sorted. What make and model is the scanner and does it connect by USB ? (ie not the old style big printer connectors). If it is a popular make then certain someone else will have the same problem. Bob |

Hi Bob I was able to get drivers downloaded by doing the Google thing, but the scanner still isn't 'found'. |

I found after installing Service Pack 2 that my scanner wouldn't work properly, I don't know if this is typical of many scanners. |

You'll have to get the PC to recognize the 'new' hardware: 1. Click on START. 2. Click on CONTROL PANEL. 3. Click on ADD NEW HARDWARE. 4. A Wizard will appear and will prompt you through the process. It's also a good idea, as suggest above, to check for new, updated DRIVERS available for your scanner - which if you google the manufacture of your PC - on their website - you can enter the make and model of your printer - the site would then advise if there are new DRIVERS available for your printer - drivers keeping you up to date with the new technology out there. On the site the drivers may also be found under SOFTWARE, DOWNLOADS or UPDATES - every site uses their own lingo for such things. Judy |

Maggie, go to start / help and support / windows update and choose custom. After it scans see if there is an updated driver in 'optional hardware updates' in the list on the left. If not go to the manufacturers site or type in google 'Epson 2200 scanner XP driver' replace with whatever make your scanner is. Windows supports devices decades old so it shouldn't be a problem. Some devices need software install first, then hardware and others the opposite way round. Bob |

Hi Jools and Andrew Thank you for your responses. I tried both and still no luck. I did just notice though that on the scanner CD it says it is for Windows 98/2000/ME and I now have XP. That sounds as if it is too old doesn't it? Thank you for helping though. Maggie |

Try this: Uninstall any software for the scanner. Disconnect the scanner from the PC. Install any software that came with the scanner. Reconnect the scanner to the PC. |

If you've still got the setup CD for the scanner, put it in your CD drive. then do start, settings, control panel, add new hardware. |

I have FINALLY bought a new computer and have been able to transfer everything over except my scanner, which refuses to work. It is a fairly old one, is it too old to be compatible? The message I get is SCANNER IS NOT FOUND. I have tried over and over again to put it on, it all looks fine, I even get the shortcut icon on my desktop, but when I go to scan anything the above message pops up. Any advice from the techno whizzes out there PLEASE?? Thanks a lot. Maggie |
