have come across this website in a paper www(.)spatial(-)literacy(.)org Remove the brackets This is a web site that maps more than 25,000 surnames in britain. Site is free and by typing in surname anyone can see a profile of how others sharing the name are distributed round the country. Shows the distribution of surnames from 1881 census and 1998 electoral register. Liz
