I'm a bit confused about where the mum's name is written as Mary Jinks formerly Wimborn and where it says formerly Wimbush??? Anyway.....she could have registered the birth of George and pretended to me married to Moses Jinks (I love that name!!) - no one would have asked her for proof........ You said the only marriage you coud find for Moses Jinks was in 1918.....there's this one too, but it doesn't involve Mary Wimborn/Wimbush! if he isnt named on the birth cert, how do you know Moses is the father? is wimborn/wimbush a typing error on your part, or do you have two names for her? |

No, I know Im slow, but I dont quite understand. You have a birth certificate for George Jinks? But no father is shown on it? And the mother is shown as a Jinks, formerly Wimbush? So why do you say the father is Moses Jinks? Is the question why is there no father when the lady is claiming to be married? |

As far as I know, she wouldn't have to have proof of her name to register her son's birth. My grandfather's half-brothers and sisters were all registered by their mother under her 'married' name but I am sure she never married their father. Also, my grandfather's cousin was registered by her mother again under her 'married' name, but the parents were definitely not married as the mother's death was then registered under her maiden name! But as for what you say about there being no father's name on the birth certificate, that surely suggests that Moses Jinks was not the father if Mary was, or was pretending to be, his wife, because if he was the father she would have given his name?! Just seen your message Merry, well in that case, I say that William Lowe Jinks probably wasn't the father either...! But I suppose Moses Jinks could have been, then.... Kate. |
