Florence Hough baptised on 6th April 1879 at North Muskham to parents Richard and Mary Hough. She is on all the census returns with her sisters born in Bathley near Newark. Cannot find birth for her in the GRO index and the Newark Register Office does not have a record of her birth either. Bathely came under Southwell until 1974 then it was transferred to Newark. The only record we have is her baptism entry. All the other siblings births seem present and correct so where is poor Flo? |

have you looked on Ancestry? You can search for this for FREE at the moment on http://www.ancestry(.)co(.)uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx remove the brackets You have to search the images to find the one you think is the correct one. They are not name transcribed; just the first and last name on each image comes up from the search result. Remember, that the date is the quarter the event was registered. With births that can be up to 6 weeks afterwards Margaret |

1881 census shows that she was born in 1879 in Bathley which is always cosistent. The only Flo I could find was born in Stockport. |

Have you checked all the Houghs, she might have been registered as just female, or they may have changed their minds about her first name when they had her baptised. nell |

She had baby and got married in that order so we know she lived. Her birth just seems werid. I am descended from her sister Rachel. It just seems sily that she is so consistent. Sorted Jessie out as she got confused. |

There is this birth in Holborn, which would make this Florence the correct age as on the census. Perhaps her mother was visiting someone when she gave birth:- Florence Hannah Hough, Dec. qtr. 1878, Holborn, 1b, 786 Kath. x |

Maybe she was actually born somewhere else? I have a few of mine on the census' with the place of birth incorrect. I found these possibilties: Florence Hannah Hough, Q4, 1878 -district of Holborn Florence Augusta Hough, Q1, 1879, district of Brentford Florence Henrietta Hough, Q1 1879, district of W.Ham Good luck!
