.. clerk be in 1900? My relative is described as a clerk on his children's birth certificates, sometimes insurance clerk. The family weren't very wealthy to start with and my idea is that they were upper working class. It's quite hard to tll from their addresses. Would anyone know? Thanks for any answers! |

Hi If clerks were still as poor in 1900 as they were in Dickens' time (see A Christmas Carol!) the family wouldn't have been all that well off. Perhaps if you look at the Victorian History site there might be something. Cheers Allie |
