There are some threads on the General Board about a virus threat called Blackworm. I know sometimes these are hoax virus but this one is genuine, just google and see all the panicky sites about it. SO everyone, dont open emails with attachments (even if it appears to come from someone you know, apparently this virus goes through peoples address book and sends on mails), particularly one which has porn type headings, make sure your antivirus is up to date as well as your firewalls and if you dont have automatic downloads from Microsoft, go to their site to see if you should download updates (the site will scan your puter and tell you if and which updates you need).

The Symantec site which provides lots of antivirus and worm removal tools - is offering to scan your puter to see if the Blackworm is in it already and remove it. http://securityresponse*symantec*com/avcenter/venc/data/w32*blackmal@mm*removal*tool*html

It sounds awful. Apparently a lot of people will already have this worm in their pc waiting to strike. It said on the security site I was reading that it enters through an infected email and then supposedly sits there until the third of the month (no idea why). It will then stop the use of your mouse and turn off your antivirus. I suppose most people not being able to use the mouse will do like me, switch off and switch on the pc. Thats when the worm rips though your system, destroying all documents. I had this happen before about 4 years ago. Son had a friend come to stay. This kid bought a lot of downloaded games or something on discs. I didnt know that. Hour later and son says 'Mum, the pc is acting gay'. I come up thinking oh just needs twiddling with - the screen was black except for a few numbers at the bottom of the screen. I couldnt believe it - everything was gone, my accounts for over a year (work for hubby), all my documents, everything. Makes me shiver to think of it.
