Sounds like you need to get some marriage certificates. All these census records are fine but if you want FULL information it's certificates you are wanting. Hope your male relative didn't have a common surname! Cheers, Horatia |

Oh deary deary me!!!!! Finding info on my maternal side has, and in fact still is a nightmare. Grandad M did a disapearing act prior to the 1901 census, he was born in 1874. So with the greatest of help from two members we went down a different route, and BINGO, seem to have hit pay dirt. BUT G.Grandma Mary M is not an M at all, she seems to be a Mary R.. With almost a 95% coincidence all things fit, except for a different surname and an extra brother and a missing sister!!!!! So Granddad changed his name for some reason, no big deal though I. Knowing that G.Grandma Mary M or is it Mary R, married for a second time, the search began for the marriage date, and bingo we find it in 1894, which fits in ok with data we already have. I decided today to have a play on the computer, and decided to look for 2nd husband pprior to 1881 when i first found him. Oh dear, oh dear, his first wife was also called, wait for it,.....Mary. Am I barking up the wrong tree, please some encouragement or how to check this would be much appreciated. Kathlyn |
