Death at sea certificate

The GRO have a Marine Register for births and deaths (though not marriages) which occurred at sea on British-registered ships. I think that 1837online has an online copy of the Marine Register. You can order a cert online from the GRO site if you've found the index ref on the register (select the ''death certificates - overseas events'' option once you've logged in): http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp If it's not listed in the Marine Register index, you won't be able to get an official cert - and many such events were not reported unfortunately. If i have found a death at sea,,,how do i get the certificate? By sending to the GRO?....I only ask because usually i send for certificates to the relevent register office, |
