Thanks Orangeblossom, I have just tried that site and as you say it is 1837 Online The problem I have is that recently I was in Ancestry and went to the 1837 records through Ancestry and was checking a few BMD... a slow process.....but now when I go into Ancestry I can not find how to access those records again.... Have they been removed from the Ancestry site? Cheers Colin |

Are you looking for the beta version of the BMD GRO index images? You need to look for this link: ''England & Wales, BMD Index (Beta)'' Christine |

Make sure you are on ancestry(.)co(.)uk. On the homepage scroll down and under the main search area click the link to 1837/1983 bmd(beta). This will take you through to the imaged archives of the bmd index, and search options. Glen |

Colin, when you go to ancestry - go down the page past the normal search box and on the right hand side below it is a number of links. One is England and Wales bmd index beta. Oh and apparently I think Christine was the one who told us, beta means on a sort of practice trial, so hopefully they will soon get it all sorted and it will no longer be beta. |

Yes, BETA is used when something isn't in it's full up-and-running version, but is moderately usable. Sometimes you may be invited to test beta versions (of e.g. software) for free... You are asked to report glitches - and usually you get a perk of some kind - a discount on the final version &/or early notification of updates etc. Christine |
