I have had 4 ancestors spend time in the workhouse at some stage. One was a married father of children, who was a pauper inmate in 1861. God knows why if he was a married man with kids. |

its very sad isnt it?? I am in the middle of reading a book about the Workhouse its very sad. Much worse than we imagined too. |
