I hope that they're better at correcting their database than Ancestry! Ancestry's £69.95 (or whatever it is) for a year is a bit of an outrage considering that their search engine is a bit rubbish and their transcriptions are of variable quality. I've submitted several dozen corrections to FreeBMD in the past couple of weeks or so, a very easy process and they don't charge you a penny for their trouble. Doesn't make much sense to me! </rant> |

Does anyone use the familyrelatives site? I've been doing some look-ups on their 1866-1920 range in my home town of Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, and was puzzled to find a birth registered in 1867 listed, as this registration district wasn't created until 1876 - it isn't a transposed number as the baby's death was recorded the same. I checked on freebmd and it should actually be Barrow upon Soar in Leicestershire. The page numbers are right, but the volume nos have been changed from 7a to 8e. I've since found another one on my list from 1895. I've e-mailed them about it, but haven't had a reply yet. Helen |
