hi i wonder if anyone can help me please i would like to find a marriage for a james knight born abt 1826 in bermondsey surrey his wife is susan knight born 1832 bermondsey surrey the trouble i have like i should think do others is i dont know her maiden name or the year that they married so how would i go about doing this any help would be much appreciated thankyou kerry suden |

Generally you find the first child of the marriage and work backwards from that date, but you would need to have a good idea of where the marriage took place. If you have a baptism for 1st child, the marriage might well have taken place in the same church. You could look on Freebmd and see any likely marriages there. But I would suggest getting a birth cert for one of their children to find out the wife's maiden name to ensure you get the right couple. nell |

Have you found them on a census as a married couple ? ** Think I have them in 1871 with a first child born 1852/1 which would give you a date to work back from........There are alot of other kids a BC would give you full names of parents. ** |

kerry have now found then as a married couple on the 1861 census and they hve 3 children they are as follows james 1857 jane 1854 susan 1851 And they are living with his parents helen |
