i have found my granmother on the bmd search.. phyllis reed born 1912.. 1st quarter, i know that this was her exact year of birth, and that she was born duing the 1st quarter, BUT,,, it states her mothers maiden name as davies, but her mother`s maiden name was thomas.. what could that be about

Oh, maybe a skeleton? I was amazed to find my grandad had been married twice. Even his daughter (my aunt) didnt know.

i have athe marraige cert for her mother and father , and it says they were married in 1910.. plus full names given.. could they have adopted my gran, 2yrs later.. my gran went on 2 have 4 more siblings

Born in the 1st quarter, but could have been registered in the 2nd quarter. Worth a look ?

no... i have thier names.. but not year of births..

Sharon Your best bet would be to order the cert, and see what it says. It could have been registered by someone who thought the mother's maiden name was davies, the index could be a mistranscription, as someone else said, that birth record might not be your grandmother, etc. Ony when you get to see it will it clear everything up (or indeed raise more questions...)
