Thanks I think it must be the only possible explanation. I wonder where the other 2 children are though. There are so many Joblings in the area which doesn't help much. I will have to look at marriage to Nellie now!

I will have to look at Isabella in the home - wonder if she was a naughty girl? I would be happy with William Jobling if his wife was listed as Sarah. Margaret Jane their eldest together married an Arthur Johnson in 1910 so having a Johnson in the house is quite interesting.

In view of the fact that Isabella appears to be in a home, Dad is with the two boys and Sarah (youngest) with her grandparents, it would appear that Sarah Jane, the mum, is either dead or too poorly to care for the children. nell

JOBLING Wiliam - MOSS Sarah Jane Married 1882 Parish Church Hendon Children all born Bishop or Monkwearmouth Margaret Jane 1882 Isabella 1884 Mary Anne 1885/ John Moss 1888 William 1891 Sarah 1892 Sarah the younngest I have found with her grandparents Margaret and John Moss. I found them in the 1891 just not 1901 - Any help appreciated -Thanks!
