I know we all moan and groan about the endless lists of un matched Hot Matches we receive, but I patiently trawled through six pages and bingo, not found one but two family members - so sorry Genes forgive me.

I have got one Smith on my tree and receive hundreds of non hot matches, but last night I found a relative of my 5th g/grandparents, and he put me in touch with another from the same branch-so persist-it is a glorious feeling when something good happens-good luck.

With new names being added to this site all the time, it's impossible to continually search for matches. Hot Matches takes this task away from us. I know it's a pain trawling through several pages of the same name all born in the same year - but all over the world! My only complaint is that I'm now totally overwelmed by the amount of information I have received from the contacts which I've made through Hot Matches! Well done GR - this is an excellent facility.

Ive jumped the gun and done what we tell all newbies to do but had forgotten to do myself for a long time - search family trees. I now have a lovely connection with a Silby family who are defo my lot. Instead of waiting for GR to get through the alphabet do your own hot match check (they are more reliable and no ann unknowns!)

The only complaint I have about hot matches is that it is a little 'broad' in what it considers a match - feel sorry for those of you searching for SMITH etc. I have currently got 11 pages of matches that I need to look through - am trying, but get so bored discarding matches all the time.

Main problem is that it needs a geographical filter as well as DoB. E.g. I have Hamiltons from London and all the matches are from Scotland!

I always thought it a trial to painstakingly go through the endless lists, but not anymore, can you believe two contacts from my 5 g/g/ grandparents. Unbelievable.

Nice to hear some positive feedback about Hot Matches. They can take ages to go through and I'd rather they showed the match name than the tree owner's name but... they are still worth taking the time over because you're not feasably going to go through every name in your tree manually looking for matches. Also, we've got 2 weeks to clear them before the next lot arrive. Well done GR Sarah

yes it be boring to trail though its so daft when you get people that have same name and birth date only to find out they were born in austrlia!!or canada and mine were born in bethnal green and shoreditch.but i must say on amore positive note i have found a 3rd cousin and we have shared information and we keep in contact and also i have found a 5th cousin also and she has shared her infor and i have shared mine with her and we also keep in contact and they are such lovely people so a lot of positive things have happened for more as well as the nagative with hotmatches but these contacts i have far way out the nagatives any day!!!kerry suden

Thanks to hot matches I am in contact with no less than four relatives which take me back five generations - it has to be good - dedicated follower of GR.
