She must have a date of birth - you just don't know what it is. How do you know she was working in a factory in 1933? Do you know the name of the factory? Have you tried contacting the relevant local history centre/archives? nell

If you are just starting with family research, haven't you got anything easier than this to begin with???? Merry

all we have is a name , no middle name or initials , where she worked. Also how do you find details of adoption and which childrens home they may have been in?

Well, you could look for the birth reg for the child (is this you?? - sorry, cheeky to ask) .....The birth cert will have an address for the mother on it. If your lucky you might find her on the electoral roll for that address. This might show other family members, though it won't tell you what relation they are to her. It's all ifs and maybes though...... Merry

The birth cert of the child says - no father, no dob for mother, no address for mother , and no name of factory. Its just such a puzzle and noone seems to know any information!!

Where was the child born? In a hospital or nursing home, or somewhere else? Merry

Maybe you need Finchley Trade Directories for the 1930's, to find out the name of the factory? Merry
