The Archdeacon's Visitation collected up info from the parishes to take to the central church records. It could include excommunications, as well as (I think) baptism, marriage and burial records, plus church accounts. You'd be wise to get a second opinion on historical Visitation info, though. These days it's more about making sure the church-wardens haven't mislaid the assets, or contravened any Trusts or diocesan rules, and suchlike. Christine
