I think this person is the son of my gggrandfather. He is Edward Andrews born about 1848, i have found him on the 1851 and 1861 census in Huddersfield, but would like to know if this is him on the 1881census as a convict in 'Her Majesty's Prison' in portland dorset. Helen

Well, is he the right age and born in the right place to be your chap? If so, it probably is him. nell

On the 1881 it shows he born in 1853 and not 1848. Where was he in 1871? Rose

Is this the right birth record? Name: ANDREWS, Edward Batty Record Type: Births Quarter: March Year: 1848 District: Huddersfield County: West Riding of Yorkshire West Yorkshire Volume: 22 Page: 360 I couldn't find him on the 1871 either. He's not with his parents. Nor do I see him on the 1891 and 1901. Rose

If he could just be found on the 1871 then you could make an occupation comparison, since the one in question on the 1881 is a tailor. Rose
