Hi, I've just spend 50 credits on looking for the birth of 2 children hoping to find their mothers maiden name. The children are Hannah Dungar c1842, William 1844, Sarah Ann 1847, Mary Elizabeth 1850, Phoebe Jane 1852 and Robert R 1859. Their parents are William and Ann, all born in Kings Lynn, Norfolk. I have found a marriage in Q1 1842 for a William and on the same pages are 2 Mary Ann's, so i wanted to find a birth cert to confirm. There are no baptisms either on LDS

Robyne I don't think the mother's maiden name was added to the indexes until c1910, so for births before then you would have to get the right marriage certificate. Joy

The mothers maiden name was added to the birth indexes from Sept quarter 1911so before then only the childs name is given and the district they were registered in except for the index reference for ordering the certificate. The only way to find out who the birth mother was is to order the birth certificate which will give the mothers name and maiden name.
