Your card will only be charged if you don't cancel the trial before the 14days. I always cancel mine after 10 days, so I know they will get the request in time.

Hi Kelly You just need to remember to contact them just before the end of the trial to advise that you don;t want to subscribe. Otherwise they assume that you do and chrage you for a years worth! Sam x

If you're in the UK, they have an email address you can use. It tells you when you sign up.

They are a completely and totally reputable company, no worries about credit card details etc. If you are really concerned, after you sign up, just change your card details so they are invalid and then they cant take any money without contacting you.

I totally agree about ancestry.co.uk being the best value for money that I have ever spent. I got my memebership with them a few months back when one of the magazines was offering a discount to the site, and I wouldnt be without it now - it has helped my research no end - I have added so many new 'arms' to my tree - and even found a few skeletons in the closet - my gg grandmothers being sisters for one! Deffo worth the money it costs, and MORE than worth a free trial, I wouldnt be worried about giving them your card details.

Has anyone noticed that ads for 'who do you think you are' airing on the radio quote a 30days free trial to Anc' but the site still only says 14days. Anyone know anymore? Thought I'd wait till the prog tomorrow and see if it's mentioned. Hubby promised me a subscription for Xmas but we have'nt got round to it yet! a extra 30days free would be a bonus! Lynn

BUT!!! i took out the 14 free trial & cancelled in three days as couldnt find much. They confirmed the cancellation by return of email BUT debitted my credit card not once but twice, did a refund of the first transaction but still left me with a debit due to rate of exchange . then debitted again from another reference then denied they had done it. HAD TO REPORT IT to my Credit card providor & send all the details with the emails(which i had kept ). they creditted me eventually & then heard no more altho i did get left with the rate of excahnge difference which i had to pay. Wasnt a happy bunny , vowed not to deal with them again, BUT I found some year later that my research had progressed so much further that i again felt that Ancestry could be the way forward & I bit the bullet I signed up for the year. Best thing I did!! When it runs out will certainly consisder resigning up Shirley

Shirley, I cant understand why you couldnt find much. If your ancestors are in the UK, then ancestry is a gold mine of info.
