Hi I have got a death for a woman who it says was 73 when she dies, but according to her date of birth she would have only been 71. Do you think this could be her. I have not been able to find any other possibilities when i have looked in past visits to the records office. And a relative says that she can definately recall her dying in 1945.???? Thanks stephanie,

Merry

Do you know who the person was who registered the death? Is the address the right sort of area? How commonplace is the name? Is the marital status correct? If she had a husband/was a widow, is the husband's name showing - can this be checked out, if you didn't know his name already? A million-and-one other questions????????????????? Merry

The area is right, i am not sure what it would say about her husband she left him in Ireland but never divorced him, i think he died before her though. There is a middle name initial which is right. You never know the daughter may not have known her correct year of birth. Sorry Monty i am doing it again i always my own questions. Thanks you have helped see what i am going to do. Thanks stephanie,

The information about a dead person's age would be given by the informant, who may or may not know the exact age. I have several certs where the age is incorrect, including my grandfather, whose son registered the death. nell

Steph My GGrandfather was 'out' by 2 years when he registered my GGrandmother's death the same day she died. (Have always wondered if he was 'that' upset about her death!) Then again he knocked 9 years of his age when he married his 2nd and much younger wife. Maybe he was just no good at numbers :))))) Merry....LOL!!! Chris

I can tell all you researchers in advance, that when I snuff it, my age will be out by three years - even my children do not know my real age. It started as a small social lie some 35 years ago and I have had to keep it up ever since! Olde Crone

Olde Naughty, Naughty :)) I'm hitting the big Five O next year and intend to start knocking off 1 year thereafter......'tho I doubt it will make an awful lot of difference for those trying to trace me in later years through the censuses......Thankfully my change in surnames since birth will give them enough problems :))))))...I'm soooo wicked lol Chris
